we decided to go with a chain drive setup.
the rig is looking good so far one more day and it should be finished then i have to do some testing. a 11 x 10 prop all the metal, chain and sprockets. I am looking at either the short long tail kit from mudskipper (ebay) or their surface drive kit. got started on the surface drive last week. I'm not sure if my best move is to replace the whole rig or replace the motor. At the moment, I have a G3 jon boat with a 20 hp prop. Jet boats are gaining popularity here, but you still don't see many outboard jet drives or surface drive motors around.
Has anyone here built one? If so, who did you build with? Am I being stupid? I know I won't get a lot of speed with a 6.5, but the big boat will be used to get out there, and the kaboat will be used to get just a little farther up the creek (since it will be much easier to drag than the flat bottom with the 35 hp).
